1903
“Radersburg Items”
Winnie Duff left for Helena Sunday afternoon where she intends to attend the High School until Christmas.
Those who attended the Toston dance last Friday were: Anderson Blacker, Joe Hossfeldt, Ben Bembrick and Dick Hossfeldt.
Mrs. Bish Williams has been quite sick for the past week, and though not able to get around yet, is much better.
Kate Hossfeldt is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Albert Smith, in the lower valley.
Pearl Allen is visiting friends in the burg and vicinity.
John Doughty returned from Minnesota Saturday where he has been for the past four months.
Mrs. Jim Ross and mother of the valley were shopping in Radersburg yesterday.
Nelse Johnson left for Elkhorn where he intends to work during the winter.
Harry Record was in town Sunday.
Things look bad for the dogs of Radersburg as five were found dead one morning last week.
1925
“Toston Tattles”
Miss Ryan, one of the high school teachers, spent the week end in Bozeman.
County Superintendent Miss Rachel Webb was a Toston visitor on Monday.
County health officer, Dr. Gillham, was a business visitor in Toston on Monday.
Bob Bembrick left Tuesday to spend a couple of months with relatives in Missouri.
Mike Massa left Monday for Butte where he has employment for the winter.
The high school pupils were agreeably surprised Monday when Professor Isaacs treated them to a feast of luscious muskmelon and peaches. Needless to say there were smiles galore.
“Here and There in the Valley”
C.J. Mahony was down from his mountain home last week spending the time visiting home folk and taking in the state fair.
Federal agents have been scouring the country booking for barberry bushes, which carries the black rust on grasses and grains. They found only one in this vicinity, it being at the County Poor Farm near Townsend. It is their purpose to destroy all barberry bushes and to teach others to do the same.
Hugh Broderick is treating his friends with some of the nicest corn and largest cucumbers ever grown in the valley.
Whooping cough has been hindering attendance at some of the valley schools.
1970
“Winston-Clasoil”
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Masolo attended the Labor Day rodeo in Dillon.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Olson and young daughter, Irene Sue, of Libby and Wayne Edward Herrington, who is now employed in Nampa, Idaho, spent the Labor Day week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Herrington and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baum, Ray, Kenny and Douglas, accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Clausen and Barbara Maras of Helena, drove to Elkhorn recently and enjoyed a picnic luncheon and also took in the sights of the old mining town.
Tom Hohn, who has been employed in Moab, Utah for the summer, arrived home Saturday and will leave this week end for Butte where he will again attend Montana Tech.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Davies were Sunday dinner guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Davies and young son, James.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Masolo and son, David, attended the rodeo in White Sulphur Springs over the Labor Day week end.
Chris Cox and Connie Van Horn of Bozeman left by bus for Seattle last Thursday to visit friends, and then on down to San Francisco where Chris will spend a few days with her brother, Cliff, who is employed there, Connie went on down to Los Angeles to be with her father.
“Susan Sautter Celebrates Birthday with Pizza Party”
Susan Sautter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sautter, celebrated her 14th birthday last week with a pizza party Friday evening at her home. Guests enjoyed dancing during the evening.
Invited guests were Sally Christie, Donna Francisco, Leslie Grossman, Susan Hooks, Mary Ragen, Susan Foster, Cheryl Zehnter, Nora Langevin, Leslie Helmick, Kim Poole, Sandy Rains, Kathy Evans, Marta Scoffield, Brad Dundas, Bob Pottruff, Bob Gerheart, Randy Herbst, Tom Ragen, Bill Kirley, Brad Scoffield, Mike Copeland, Bill Hooks, John Huth, Ronnie Campbell, Ricky Kaul, Kim Foster, Jamie Poole, Phil Ryan and Don Girdler.
