“Girl Scouts Please with Original Program”
In an original program, Girl Scouts entertained the public Monday evening as a birthday anniversary observance of the 41st year of Scouting. The entertainment was given in the high school gymnasium with 125 attending and enjoying the quick wit, dancing and singing of the 22 young girls in the troop.
The act, entitled “The Rehearsal” represented a class being rehearsed by teacher to appear before the school board members. At times, the teacher didn’t approve of all the proposed entertainment, but the audience did, while the young actresses exemplified what they might do.
The applause was generous. Mrs. Wm. McElwee, leader of one of the troops, was the teacher and also called for the square dance numbers. Mrs. McElwee said she was “pinch-hitting for another leader, Mrs. Lyman Etzwiler unable to take part because of illness. Mrs. McDougal, another leader, read the script for the clever playlet entitled “Kidnapped in a Potato Sack”.
$22.60 was taken in in silver offering that will be used to help pay rent.
Girls taking part in the program are Marilyn Barraughs, Judy Collins, Helen Damuth, Dorothy Deadmond, Ann Etzwiler, Joan Jeffries, Jan Kieckbusch, Pat Kirley, Joyce Massey, Carol Ann McElravy, Mardee McElwee, Adalee Olsen, Judy Olsen, Karen Ann Olsen, Roberta Queen, Sandra Sitton, Judy Snell, Beth Thompson, Kay Thompson, Grace Tintinger, Diana Ulmer, Binkie Wallace, Marilyn Young and Diana Schiltz.
