“Legion Post No. 42 Plans for Santa Visits”

Plans for Santa will have first call on the agenda of both the Broadwater Post #42 of the American Legion and its Auxiliary at their December meeting to be held December 4th at 8 p.m. at the Legion Hall.

Since they did not have a Veterans Day Dance this year the Post has decided to raffle a liquor basket to raise money for its extensive Holiday activities. The Legion’s Santa visits over 70 homes each year, as well as the hospital, jail and rest home. He brings greetings to shut-ins and senior citizens, laughter to children, and extra necessities to the needy in the County. All of these are made possible by donations to the “kettle” set up each year on Townsend’s main street and by donations from individuals, firms and organizations.

The Auxiliary will plan on helping to furnish Santa’s goodies and aiding the Legion in sacking the over 600 bags of candy given out each year at the free show.
