Family of Vincent J. Hunsaker

June 14, 1948 – September 23, 2025

Vincent Jex Hunsaker, age 77, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born June 14, 1948, in Logan, Utah, Jex moved with his family to Toston, Montana, in 1949, where he was raised with the values of hard work and humility that come from life on a ranch. A graduate of Broadwater County High School in 1966, he went on to earn his Associate’s degree from Montana State University – Northern.

Jex had a lifelong passion for mechanics and motors, working as a master mechanic for both GM and Ford. His love of speed and precision led him to California, where he was part of a professional pit crew for a drag racing team—an experience that fueled his lifelong enthusiasm for fast cars and the drag strip.

In 1979, Jex married Carla Ann Klug, and the couple made their home in Townsend, Montana. During their ten-year marriage, they raised three sons—Jex Daniel, Clint Christopher, and Levi Tyler —who were the pride of his life. He later served his community as a dedicated employee of the Montana Department of Transportation, where he worked in several capacities, most notably as an electrician. He also gave back to his hometown as a member of the Townsend City Council, serving multiple terms with a steady hand and a thoughtful voice.

Jex was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in the simple beauty of Montana’s landscapes. Whether he was out fishing, camping, or simply enjoying the fresh air, he was most at peace under a big sky. He was a passionate football fan, a lover of drag racing, and above all, a man who treasured time with his family. Those who knew him best will remember his calm, easygoing nature—always a “happy camper” with a gentle spirit and a heart full of quiet strength.

He was a hard worker, shaped by his early years on the ranch and never afraid to get his hands dirty. Whether under the hood of a car or wiring a house, Jex brought diligence, care, and craftsmanship to everything he did.

Jex was preceded in death by his father, Dan Hunsaker; his mother, Ruth (Hansen) Hunsaker; and his brother, Delbert Hunsaker.

He is survived by his loving sons: Jex (Angela) Hunsaker, Clint (Tara) Hunsaker, and Levi (Laura) Hunsaker; his twelve beloved grandchildren; his siblings: Linda Campbell, Jeannie Davis, Dixie (Vince) Hoff, Donna Dee (Arnold) Lamb, Holly (Troy) Hendrickson, and Tracy (Lori) Hunsaker; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his steady presence and warm smile.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 30th, 2025, in Townsend, Montana, at the Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep integrity, and a life well-lived.

Service Schedule:

Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 212 Broadway, Townsend, Montana 59644.
