1902

“Local News”

W.K. Mayne, departed for Hunters Hot Springs Tuesday evening, where he will remain for a week at least. He goes to try the healing properties of the waters of that place for rheumatism.

I. Erickson, of White Sulphur Springs who was arrested by Mrs. Ramspeck for the unlawful possession of a horse, was liberated and went on his way, rejoicing, toward home last Sunday morning. From what we can learn about the case, it was not properly brought, and therefore the advantage lay with defendant.

Martin Peterson, of Deep Creek, who was in town Tuesday, claims to have caught the largest fish ever hooked in that stream. In telling of his catch, he stated that the fish was a fine species of whitefish measuring 15 ½ inches in length and 7 ½ inches in circumference and weighing two pounds. He also caught a large number of speckled beauties, including one trout which measured 15 inches.

1941

“Local News”

Mrs. D.L. Hollaway and little daughter, Trenna Lee, stopped briefly in Townsend from Boulder yesterday afternoon. They were on a short vacation tour of Yellowstone Park and the Cook City Highway.

L.M. Cooley returned Tuesday morning from Como, Colorado.

The three Townsend girls, Margaret Williams, Peggy Pennell and Peggy Peterson, who attended the Camp Fire Girls camp at Lake Ellen, have returned home. Mrs. W.A. Pennell and Mrs. Eunice Williams went for them Monday.

1958

“Local News”

Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Van Voast and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mongrain spent the weekend at Seeley Lake picking huckleberries. The Mongrains accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gill back over there Monday, so it must have been a very successful trip.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Holling and family visited in Bozeman Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Holling’s grandmother, Mrs. Edna Fields.

Earl Fryhling and daughter, Janet, were in Great Falls on business Tuesday.

Marnie Lanning, who had an appendectomy in the Broadwater Hospital Tuesday, is progressing real well.

Mrs. George Lots and Mrs. Walter Ragen drove to Great Falls Tuesday to meet Marcia Lots, who has been visiting friends at Wolf Point.

Pvt. Wally Rauser is spending a two-week furlough with his wife and parents. He is stationed at Ft. Ord, California.

1975

“Toston-South of Townsend-Crow Creek” News”

Mrs. Boyd Cazier, Craig and Steven visited with Karen Cazier in Salt Lake City last weekend and with relatives in Ogden, Utah.

Barbara and Jean Berberet were home for the weekend to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Berberet.

Sylvia, the hog owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Olsen, has made the papers again. This time in the magazine section of the Seattle P.I.

Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Miller of Clyde Park visited relatives for a few days this week.

Mrs. W.D. Williams and Mrs. Dietz Davis went to Seeley Lake Thursday to visit their mother, Mrs. Oscar Nilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Seaman.

Mrs. Lawrence Hillyer and two children of San Diego, California and Mrs. Lawrence Broadwater of Helena Valley visited Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Tom and W.D. Williams last Thursday.

Minnie Heisey of Helena visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Webb on Friday.
