Clancy Days

It is time to start our summer adventures again.
Last weekend we went to Clancy Days. What an interesting town. It was a beautiful day to stroll the streets to see this community in action. We were surprised at all the people who were there. They had vendor booths that lined the main streets, which had a wide variety of wares that would interest the crowds. There were food vendors and trucks serving everything from lemonade, ice cream, snow cones, kettle corn, burgers and so much more. We stopped by the Jefferson County Museum. For a small town, this is a great Museum. They had demonstrations by wool spinners and weavers. There was a book sale at the local library. What a nice library!
I understood they had stick horse rodeo for the kids and other kids’ games, but we didn’t see them in action. They also had a touch-a-truck event for the kids so they could climb up and experience emergency vehicles, tractors and trucks of all types.
They had a stage set up with music most of the day. The schedule looked like a lot of local talent, as they only sang for 20 minutes to ½ hour each. We watched a cute young gal, about 9 or so, who was not afraid of the stage and sang several songs with a karaoke machine. What a great opportunity to share local talent.
There was a pretty big car show. We love to look at old cars and appreciate those that take the time to shine up their toys and bring them out to share with us. The parade started about 2:30. I thought this was a long parade for this small town. The Volunteer Fire Department was well represented and had some nice shiny equipment. Others that I remember were the Shriners with their little cars and whoopee wagon, a bagpipe group performed, the local wrestling club, a group of motorcycle riders, several old cars and tractors, Kolar tires and NorthWestern Energy.
I know it must take a lot of organization to put together activities like this, and they did a great job. I’d say Clancy Days is nice, a smaller version of our Townsend Fall Fest. We will definitely go back again next year.
