Author: MT43News sports reporter

The BHS track and field team wrapped up their competitive season at the state meet over Memorial Day weekend in Missoula. This hard-working and talented group of kids merited the following achievements during their season. Great job, Bulldogs!

All-state honors were achieved by Kaitlyn Noyes in the long and triple jumps, Kyla Meissner in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, and Holly Newman in the 100-meter hurdles.

All-conference honors earned by the men’s team were: Seniors Nolan Flynn and Cael Sell, Juniors Colt Barnard, Trace Giomi and Gavin Schmele, Sophomores Jim Tew and Tavyn Anderson, and Freshman Bryce Lessley. All-conference for the ladies were: Seniors Memphis Meier, Kaelyn Sangray, Jazlyn Martin and Abby Wickens, Juniors Kaitlyn Noyes, Holly Newman and Aspen Slyker, Sophomore Kyla Meissner, and Freshmen Elaine MacDonald and Kinsley Heggen.

Huge thanks to the coaches who clearly all love this sport! Bringing home six trophies in her first two years as the head coach is Angie Tew. She took over the job from Travis Rauh after assistant coaching for 19 years.

She heads a team of veteran coaches, beginning with long-time throwing coach and retired teacher, Pat Hamilton, who completed his 31st year. Training the distance runners is Brooke Dolan, who also coaches the successful cross-country program in the fall at BHS, in her 15th year. Ally Lampman is a familiar sight on the track as she coached the middle school team for a handful of years before moving up to the high school this year. Rounding out the coaching team is Superintendent Brad Racht, who guides the jumpers as a volunteer.

Thanks for your endless hours and unending support of these athletes!
