Townsend Fair and Rodeo Association Receives Grant

MT43 News Reporter

Townsend Rotary Club President Doug Sitton gave Rodeo Board members a check for $15,000 last week at Rotary’s regular meeting.

Rodeo Board President Vince Thompson thanked the club and said the money would go toward improving the aging sound system at the rodeo grounds. He estimated the sound system upgrade would cost somewhere around $30,000, but it will be a real improvement, which will include the capability to add music to enhance audience enjoyment. “We really appreciate the help with improving the rodeo grounds. Everything we make goes into maintaining the bleachers, the handicapped access area, the corrals and the chutes,” he explained.

The grounds, one of the best in the state, were built by Blaisdell Construction in the early 1960s.
