Bulldog Tennis Team Competes at State

The Bulldog Tennis team was in Missoula for the State Tennis meet from May 22nd through the 24th. The Bulldogs sent 6 athletes and 2 alternates to the tournament. Junior Harper Wolfgram and sophomore Bella McDaniel went as singles, and for the doubles, sophomore Chloe Flynn and senior Carsyn Odell, as well as sophomore Bryleigh Erickson and sophomore Violet Collins. The alternates were sophomore Jacey Brunette and freshman Addie White.

On Thursday, May 22nd, the play started. Both doubles teams won their first and second games. Chloe and Carsyn beat Troy and Forsyth to secure a quarterfinal spot. Violet Collins and Bryleigh Erickson beat Lone Peak and Fort Benton to also secure a quarterfinal spot. As for singles, both Harper Wolfgram and Bella McDaniel lost tough first-round matches. Harper played Lone Peak and Bella played Fairfield. Wolfgram battles through the backside of the bracket, winning her next two matches against Baker and Superior. Bella also won her next two matches against Troy and Forsyth. After the first day, all Bulldogs tennis players remained in the tournament.

The second day of State kicked off with Bryleigh Erickson and Violet Collins beating Simms in a long match to get into the semifinals. Then, they played Baker in the semifinals, but lost in a tough match. Carsyn Odell and Chloe Flynn lost their quarterfinal game to Loyola. After that, they lost to Chinook in a consolation game, ending their season. As for singles, Bella McDaniel lost her match against Lone Peak, and Harper Wolfgram lost her match against Baker.

For the last day of state, Saturday, Bryleigh Erickson and Violet Collins played against Fort Benton to determine whether they’d play for third or fourth, or fifth and sixth. They ended up beating Fort Benton in a long match to play for third and fourth. They faced Conrad and lost in a tough match to end up in fourth place. We are so thankful to have such a great season. All of the athletes are extremely grateful for the coaches, John Odell, Tyler Patrick, Liz Collins, and Eric Sorenson. Thank you for all the work you put in and for making this program so successful. Our team would like to give special thanks to Coach Patrick and all that he has done for us in his time coaching here. The Bulldogs overall had a great season and are so excited for next year!
