1941

“Several Selected for Music Meet”

Those who will attend the music meet in Missoula on April 18th and 19th have been selected from the personnel of the school band. They are to take part in the contest divisions as follows:

Ensembles: Clarinet Quartet, Jack Zimmerman, Joyce Craft, Juanita Sutherland, Don Shearer.

Trombone Quartet: Pat Hooks, Laurie McCarthy, Merle Emmert, Dorothy Ballard.

Saxophone Quartet: Agnes Ann Holloway, Phyllis Fox, Betty Schreiner, Marie Stockburger.

Cornet Quartet: Catherine Biggs, Betty Watkins, Eilene D’Arcy, Norma Morris.

Solos: Mary Hadcock, Bass Horne; Merle Emmert, Trombone; Bill Watkins, accompanist.

“Personal News”

Dean Wogaman returned to the seventh grade and his brothers, Teddy and Bobby, returned to the third and second grade, respectively. Their father, Ted Wogaman, rented the R. Bucy ranch.

Home for an Easter vacation from Carroll college, Helena are Joe Gabisch, Chas. Ragen and Dan McCarthy.

A number of Townsend couples attended the Montana Club party in Helena Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Cooley, Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Doggett, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brown, Miss Mary Connors and T.E. Connors among the Townsend representation.

Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Ewing are enjoying a trip to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, this week. Their daughter, Mrs. Albert Grentsten, is taking care of the hotel in their absence.

1958

“New Star Owner Arrives This Week”

Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Brammer of Berryville, Ark., arrived in Townsend yesterday to make their home here. Mr. Brammer is part owner of the Star and will be associated with his brother, G.Z. Brammer, in operating the business. The men’s mother, Mrs. J.S. Emmett, came with them and will spend the summer in Townsend. They are now at home in the Marguerite Michaels residence.

“Local News”

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Davis and two children spent the weekend at Denton with Mrs. Davis’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knox, and other relatives. They also stopped in Lewistown to visit Bud’s sister, Mrs. Doris Anderson and friends. The Davises lived in Lewistown before coming to Townsend.

Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Lots of Great Falls visited George Lots and family over the Easter holiday.

Mr. and Mrs. Stan Mongrain visited Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Perry, Jr. on Easter.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ragen left Friday for Spokane to spend Easter with their daughter, Miss Nan Ragen.

Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Gaab spent Easter in Livingston with their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gaab and two daughters.

Miss Helen Carson of Arlington, New Jersey, arrived by plane to spend Easter with her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carson, and her niece, Miss Helen Carson, who was home from Western College of Education at Dillon.

Charley Shaw left Sunday for Beaumont with his string of racehorses to begin training for the racing season, which starts in June.

1975

“South of Townsend News”

Jay Lane was 4 years old on April 1st. He celebrated with a birthday party. Invited guests were Jimmy, Derek and Chad Mitchell, Monti, Mark and Doug Slifka, Annissa Booster, Mary Slifka, Gladys Johnson and Judy Slifka.

Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bruce and family were Andy’s mother, Mrs. Marie Bruce, his brother and wife, Norman and Sally of Montana City and Walt Madill.

Mrs. Clinton Lewis and Mrs. Ted Wogamon were Sunday night dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Lewis.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kimpton attended the movie “Rancho Deluxe” in Bozeman Sunday night. The movie was filmed around Livingston.

Andrea Bruce celebrated her 11th birthday on March 23rd. Kelly Hayes was an overnight guest for the occasion. Grandparents, aunts and uncles also helped her celebrate with a family dinner.

Jean Berberet of Jackson, Wyoming, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Berberet and family.

1997

“Around Town News”

Megan Howard, Bozeman, was a weekend visitor with her father, Russ Howard.

Barney Johnson was a business caller in Helena, Monday.

Wanda Lambott, Mesa, Ariz., recently visited her parents, Pam and Leonard Lambott, Carmen and Wendy. During her stay, she also visited her grandparents, Forrest and Marion Kitto.

Sunday Rod and Linda Kitto, Todd and Brittany hosted a birthday for Marion Kitto. Guests were Forest Kitto, Dave and Martha Gardner, Jason, Curtis and Eric and Wilmer and Marge Eicher, Helena.

Wednesday Ruth Zimmerman, Mary Olsen, Grace Berberet, Ruth Layton, Doreen Sautter and Pauline Webb worked on centerpieces for the Garden Club at the home of Frances Etzwiler.
