Martin Wendell “Marty” Leanhart, a cherished brother and loyal friend, passed away on July 1, 2026, after a long illness. He was 74 years old. Born on December 18, 1951, in Townsend, Montana, Marty was the third of six children born to Jack Eugene Leanhart Sr. and Willena Arlene (Toney) Leanhart.

Marty lived a full life through quiet strength and unwavering integrity. He spent most of his adult years serving the people of Broadwater County as a Sheriff’s Deputy, where he was respected for his steady presence, fairness, and dedication to the community. Later, he worked for many years for the Montana Highway Department as a Scale House Operator, continuing to exemplify reliability, professionalism, and good humor.

Marty had a remarkable ability to find humor in most things, a gift that allowed him to get along with everyone he met. His easy laugh, sharp wit, and warm nature made him a comforting and uplifting presence to family, friends, coworkers, and anyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Willena Leanhart, his sister Glennis Davenport of Troy, Alabama, and his brother Daryl (Randy) Leanhart of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Marty is survived by three siblings: Pamela Oleson of San Antonio, Texas; Teena Leanhart of San Antonio, Texas; and his brother Jack (Sandy) Leanhart, also of San Antonio, Texas. They will forever carry his love, laughter, and memory in their hearts.

In lieu of a memorial service, Marty will be laid to rest beside his parents at Deep Creek Cemetery at a later date.
