Good Ol’ Boys’ Café, 316 N. Front Street, held its soft-opening Rodeo weekend. The new owners, Mike Graham and Ray Turney, took over TB’s restaurant early this month.
Their manager, Dustin Hutson, said they completely redid the facility with newly finished flooring and new equipment and are awaiting a larger custom vent and duct system, which will be up to code, so they can double the output of the kitchen.
Hutson, who lives in Townsend and has a family, admits he has never been a manager, but has experience with chefs in restaurants in all areas of service. He and his family have lived in this area for 11 years; before that, he lived in Lincoln, Montana and at Chico Hot Springs.
Turney, who hails from Orofino, Idaho, where he grew up on a ranch, said he and his friend Mike took “a leap of faith” starting the restaurant. His excitement boiled over when he pointed out the small fishing tackle shop they had opened in the front of the restaurant: “It’s not very big, but we have a little of everything a fisherman might need- hooks, bobbers, poles, and even hats.”
The café offers specials for breakfast such as huckleberry French toast and, for lunch, tuna on a hoagie bun with fries. They also serve mud pie dessert for those who crave something sweet. Their menu features both children’s specials and senior specials. The café is open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seven days a week.
