John James Sanderson passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2026. Although diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago, he fully enjoyed his last months visiting family and traveling.
John is survived by his wife Janice Sanderson, mother Johnette Sanderson, brother Scot Sanderson, and sisters Tracy Moormeier and Shannon Eakman. John also had three children: Huey Hearty III and wife Faith Sanderson, Mary Sanderson, and John Sanderson Jr. His children have blessed him with five grandchildren, including Tru, Huey, Jaxen, Journey, and Tianna. He is also survived by his favorite aunts Joey, Laurie and Peggie, and many other relatives and friends.
John was born July 16th, 1962, to Floyd and Johnette Sanderson in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Foster High School in Seattle in 1981. He began his career in metal finishing in high school at his Uncle Jim’s Chrome Plating shop, Master Craft, in Seattle, working there from High School to his late twenties. He moved to Montana in 1992 and continued his career at Decorative Industrial Plating, retiring earlier this year. John was exceptional in his career and will be missed by many local, national, and international customers.
John’s favorite hobbies were hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved spending time in Seattle with all his family and loved visiting the beaches and ocean.
John could make friends in any room he entered, with his calm and friendly demeanor, and by truly living life in accordance with his favorite saying, “It is what it is.” He is loved dearly by his family, friends, co-workers, and customers. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
A celebration of life will be at Kennedy Park in East Helena on August 14th at 1:00 P.M.
