1903

“Local News”

Miss Alice D’Arcy went to Hunter’s Hot Springs the fore part of the week to try the curative properties of that resort. She expects to remain until cured or satisfied that that treatment will not do.

Townsend has the distinguishment this week of having within her limits a steam riding gallery, or what is commonly known as a “Merry go Round”.

Mrs. J.E. Kanouse and Hattie Zimmerman paid Helena a short visit Saturday.

The Star office is indebted to W.C. Daniels for a very fine box of red raspberries, which grew on Mr. Daniels’s ranch on Duck Creek. The box reached us early in the week and was highly appreciated.

Dr. Sweet and wife arrived in town early Tuesday morning from Butte and vicinity, where they had been on their wedding tour.

1925

“Local News”

Miss Josephine Sperling departed today for Miles City, where she will commence the year’s term of school near Miles City. The early date for commencing of the school’s term is due to the extreme cold weather in the midwinter, when there will be no school for a month.

Big Barn Dance at the Ed Ragen barn on Saturday August 8th, given by the Catholic ladies. Everybody invited.

Mrs. Frank T. Hooks is the guest of Mrs. Jos. J. Davey at the Kearns Camp on Deep Creek this week.

Del Brisbin leaves today for Wilkeson, Wash., where he has accepted a position with the Wilkeson Coal Co., and to play baseball. He will pitch his first game with the Washington team on Saturday.

1953

“Local News”

Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Anders, Mrs. Frank Murray, and Miss Helma Erickson enjoyed a day Sunday tour around Ennis and Virginia City.

Mrs. H.J. Doggett accompanied her daughter, Judy, to Seeley Lake Sunday where Judy will enjoy a couple of weeks at Camp Watanopa as a counselor.

Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Gaab and Bob Bayles, who is with the Gaabs at present working on their ranch, were Livingston visitors Sunday.

Larry Sullivan, accompanied by his sisters Terry and Gay Ann and Miss Louise Lillithun, spent Friday in Missoula visiting their aunt, Mrs. Thos. Hehir, before Larry left for the service first of the week.

Mrs. H.G. White and sons, Barry and Lanny, went to Minnesota for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur White. On their return, they will be accompanied by her son, Bradley, who has been visiting their grandparents.

Clarence Fisher spent Tuesday in Butte attending a T.V. conference.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Huth of Helena spent the weekend here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huth, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dixon, and other relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Neifert and Mr. and Mrs. John Schreiner entertained at a lawn picnic Sunday evening supper party on the Neifert lawn for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Erickson and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mitchell of Bozeman, Mr. and Mrs. Mandy McDonnell, Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Holland, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Langevin, Mr. and Mrs. John Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Kimpton, Mrs. W.K. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Doggett, Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Hollaway, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Antonetti, Art Berg, D.J. McKillican.

1970

“Local News”

Mr. and Mrs. Garrison Rains and daughters, Sandy, Mrs. Jim Weinzetl and Mrs. Randy Hunter and two children of Dillon have returned from a two week’s trip to Champaign, Ill., where they visited relatives.

Miss Glenda Campbell is in the cast of “Come Blow Your Horn,” a three-act comedy, being presented at Western Montana College, Dillon, in the college auditorium.

Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lohr and children Thursday through Sunday were his daughter, Alea of Othello, Wash. Joining them overnight Saturday were Mr. Lohr’s brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robet Lohr of Great Falls.

Mr. and Mrs. Loris Zimmerman of Bremerton, Wash., and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Zimmerman and two sons of Port Orchard, Wash., have been visiting this past week with Mr. Zimmerman’s sister, Mrs. Gordon Graveley and Mrs. Henry Lanning.

Visitors in the Charles Adams home last Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Frood and daughter, Mrs. Karen Henry, of Bremerton, Wash. They then went to Bozeman to visit relatives and Karen returned to spend the weekend with Sharon Adams. Mrs. Frood and Mrs. Adams are sisters.

Loren Ouren was nine years old on Wednesday, July 22, and in honor of the occasion his mother, Mrs. Oscar Ouren, invited several of his friends in for an evening party. Refreshments were served and the boys enjoyed a sleep-out and stayed for breakfast in the morning. Those enjoying the party were Kent Biggs, Darwin Harrison, Doug Cook, Gordon McGaw, Steve Watterson, Philip Kenney and the honored guest.
