10Th Annual Broadwater County-Wide Yard Sale a Success

July 18 brought beautiful weather (albeit hot) for the 10th Annual Broadwater County-Wide Yard Sale. Hundreds of people were in Townsend and Broadwater County for the sale. While many of them were Broadwater County residents, there were a lot of shoppers from around Southwest Montana (Meagher, Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, Silver Bow, Deer Lodge, and Powell).

In 2017, we held the first County-Wide Yard Sale. I told Pam we needed at least 25 yard sales registered to make the event worthwhile, and I was nervous that we would not get that many. That first year we had around 45 yard sales on the maps and 100s of people shopping the sales.

When I created the maps for the first County-Wide Yard Sale, I was able to easily get them on one sheet of paper printed double-sided. This year we had 62 sales registered for the maps, and I created 7 individual maps that I was able to fit on 2 sheets of paper printed double-sided.

While I did not talk to all 62 people holding Yard Sales, the ones I talked to were very happy with the number of shoppers they had visit their sale and with the sales they made. One told me they made over $1,700.00 on Saturday.

Not all shoppers were from Southwest Montana. Over the last 10 years, we have built up returning shoppers from as far away as Boise and Spokane. Last December I received an email from a couple in Boise asking when the County-Wide Yard Sale would be held. They said they come every year and they wanted to plan a vacation to attend the event.

Pam and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the event: the 62 people who held yard sales and the hundreds who shopped them!
