This is the last of a four-part series of articles, highlighting the projects that the Broadwater County Trust Board has supported this past year.
In April of 2025, the Broadwater County Trust Board processed a grant in the amount of $10,000. This grant was requested by Townsend Youth Baseball to help upgrade the baseball fields for youth and high school baseball. This money was used to replace the roof on the dugouts, paint and stencil the dugouts, replace bases, extend the field, and extend the field's fencing. In addition, the money helped pay for gravel, replace outdated backstops, backstop fencing, and outfield fencing.
This space continues to provide families with a safe and ADA-compliant place to play and watch baseball games. The Trust Board was excited to partner with the Townsend Youth and High School Baseball programs to support recreation for Broadwater County.
The Broadwater County Trust Board (BCTB) was established to oversee and manage the Broadwater County Trust Fund created by the sale of cabin properties along the north end of Canyon Ferry reservoir in the 1990’s. The purpose of the fund is to support recreational projects in the county. The interest from the investment of the trust fund principal is accessed through a grant process, screened and managed by the Trust Board. Their recommendations for grant approval and payments are sent to the County Commissioners for action. All contracts and disbursement of funds are completed by the Broadwater County Commission.
The BCTB meets monthly to receive, discuss, approve, and manage grant applications, which satisfy the criteria set forth in the Trust’s by-laws. These criteria can be found on the Trust website at https://broadwatercountytrustboard.com/about/.
BCTB welcomes ideas and proposals from the public to improve Broadwater County recreational facilities and their use. The BCTB usually meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 11:30 AM. Grant application forms can be found on the BCTB website at https://broadwatercountytrustboard.com/about/.
