Mercantile Opens Drive Through Service

Whether you need an early cup of jo or you crave that afternoon huckleberry milkshake, the new drive-through service at C Hangin’ C Mercantile and Creamery has you covered.

The drive-through service at C Street and South Front opened May 22nd, according to owner Cassie Cooper. She opened the business several years ago when Rocky Mountain Supply moved to its new location.

She explained that mothers carrying babies in car seats and people on their way to work early in the morning prefer not to come into the store. “People have been asking for a year if we could put in window service,” she said.

The window opens at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. Sunday. With the new service, Cooper has hired 5 additional employees and now has a total of 16 people working 2+ shifts. Summer will see the business stay open evenings. The new manager, Carley Sawyer, oversees the food section of the store, which also offers upscale clothing and gifts.

Cooper emphasized that she hires local young people. “Lots of times it’s the kids’ first job. I like working with teenagers to teach them customer service, cooking, and handling money. I try to treat them with respect, and I always see the results of that,” she said.
