Lady Bulldog Tennis Team Wins at Divisional Tournament

On May 20th and 21st, the Bulldogs varsity tennis team travelled to Belgrade to compete in the divisional tournament. There are 3 other teams in the Southern Division that the Bulldogs competed against: Three Forks, Red Lodge, and Lone Peak. The Bulldogs had two doubles teams competing and four singles. Both doubles teams qualified for the State tournament as well as two of the singles players.
There were 8 total duos in the doubles bracket, and the top four teams went to state. Bryleigh Erickson and Chloe Flynn had a bye the first round but won the next round against Three Forks 6-1 and 6-2 to advance to the championship. Ady White and Kylee Warburton won their first-round game against Red Lodge 6-0 and 6-2. They won a match against a Three Forks team 6-2 and 6-3 to meet the Bulldogs in the championship. The two Broadwater doubles played for 1st. Bryleigh Erickson and Chloe Flynn won their match 6-2 and 6-1.
In the singles bracket, Harper Wolfgram rolled to the championship, winning her first match against Lone Peak 6-4 and 6-0. She beat her Red Lodge opponent 6-1 and 6-1. Then she faced off against Broadwater’s Brunette and won the match 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the championship match. She lost the match against a Lone Peak competitor, landing her in second place and qualifying her for the State tournament.
Arabell McDaniel also qualified for the State tournament with her 3rd-place finish. She won her first match against a Lone Peak competitor 6-0 and 6-0. Next, she faced off against Three Forks and won that match 6-0 and 6-0 again. After that, she battled a tough match against the Lone Peak competitor that finished first, losing the match 7-5 and 4-6. Then, she had another tight match against Red Lodge. She won the match 6-7, 6-3, and 11-9 in a tie breaker. This advanced her to play for 3rd against a Three Forks opponent. She won the match, leaving her in 3rd place to advance to State.
Next, Jacey Brunette had an amazing tournament. She won her first-round match against Three Forks 7-5 and 6-2. Then, she rolled her Red Lodge opponent 6-2, 6-2. After that, she lost to Broadwater’s Wolfgram, which sent her to the back side of the bracket. She played a Three Forks opponent and lost 3-6, 6-1, and 8-10 in the tie breaker. This sent her to the match for 5th place. Only the top 5 singles advance to state. She lost this match against a Red Lodge opponent, leaving her in 6th place, barely missing the state tournament.
Hailey Hildreth lost her first- round match to Red Lodge, 2-6 and 4-6. Then, she beat her Three Forks opponent in a tie breaker 6-0, 4-6, and 10-4. She also beat a Red Lodge opponent 6-2 and 6-2. Then she faced off against another Red Lodge player and lost the match 5-7 and 1-6.
Team placings showed the Bulldogs finishing in first place. This was their 4th divisional championship in a row. They have won 21 times out of the last 22 years. The Lady Bulldogs will take 6 players to the State tournament in Missoula on May 28th, 29th, and 30th.
