Southern B Divisional Track Meet

The Southern Division of Class B schools held their divisional track meet in Laurel last Thursday, May 21st. Since the Southern division is comprised of three districts (3B, 4B & 5B), the top eight athletes from each event advance to the state meet held in Missoula on May 29th and 30th.
The Broadwater Lady Bulldogs finished in 9th place by scoring 32 points, mostly due to senior Kaitlyn Noyes winning the long jump and placing 3rd in the triple jump, 3rd in 200-meter dash, 6th in the triple jump, and 9th in the 400-meter dash. She will be competing in all five events at state, as she established state-qualifying time/distances in all five earlier this year.
Fellow seniors Holly Newman and Aspen Slyker secured 4th place finishes in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, respectively. Sophomore Elaine MacDonald and junior Kyla Meissner will be moving on to state in all three of their individual events. The lady’s team will also be bringing both their relays to state.
The Boy’s Varsity team placed 6th with 43 points in large part to a quartet of seniors. Trace Giomi is divisional champion in discus, along with a 3rd place finish in the shot put. Gavin Greene was runner-up in both the 1600- and 3200-meter runs; the longer distance marked a new PB for him. Gavin Schmele finished 4th in the shot put and 9th in the shot put, while Tannen Tuffelmire placed 6th in both the 100-meter dash and 110-meter hurdles.
Junior Jim Tew also advances to state in the 110-meter hurdles, as well as the long and triple jumps. Fellow junior Tavyn Anderson will triple jump and the men’s short relay will round out the team headed for state. Good luck, Bulldogs!

High Jump: 6 Kaitlyn Noyes 5’, 9 Holly Newman 4’8”. Long Jump: 1 Kaitlyn Noyes 18’2”, 9 Holly Newman 14’11.5”. Triple Jump: 3 Kaitlyn Noyes 33’7.75”.
Boy’s Varsity: 100-meter dash: 6 Tannen Tuffelmire 11.42. 1600-meter run: 2 Gavin Greene 4.45.26. 3200-meter run: 2 Gavin Greene 10.24.46 PB.
