Customer Appreciation Day at Rocky Mountain Supply Entertains A Crowd

Whether customers enjoyed sizing up the baby llamas or bobbing for duck pond prizes, they enjoyed the cool Friday afternoon at Customer Appreciation Day at Rocky Mountain Supply on Highway 287.

According to general manager Wynn Meehan, the co-op store is owned by the customers, so he likes to give back to those customers who shop every day at the fuel and farm supply store. “Once a year, we just like to say thank you to all who do business with us,” he said.

The meal included a pulled-pork barbecue provided by John and Missy Rauser, well-known caterers in this area. The luncheon included baked beans, chips and something to drink. The kids won prizes in the stick-horse barrel racing contest. John Pavao of Dry Creek area brought his llamas with their new crias (babies) for folks to check out. Paveo raises the llamas for hunting groups to use as pack stock.

Meehan pointed out the day is a chance for farmers, ranchers and town folks to get together to visit. Conversations included talk about how dry the weather is – “Do you think it is probably as dry as the country was back in the 1930’s?” One person thanked RMS for putting on the free lunch. She then went on to say she hardly ever gets out, but she has been lucky to have several free lunches, from people who bought her lunch anonymously at various cafes: “People are so generous. I feel so lucky,” she said.
