1903
“Radersburg Items”
The dance Friday night was much enjoyed by all.
Arthur McGugin drove over from Townsend Sunday and continued on to Dogtown to spend Sunday with his mother, returning Monday afternoon.
John Sitton and wife came to Radersburg Tuesday to begin their married life in the little burg.
Lan Allen was in town Sunday to practice baseball with the boys.
Charlie Colberg was in Radersburg Sunday, returning to Hassel the same day.
One of the most pleasant events of the season occurred Saturday night when Mrs. Chester Abbott entertained in honor of Miss Hulda Bucher of Townsend. Those present were the Misses Rader, Doughty, Hossfeld, Berg, Maude and Irene Duff, Jenkins and Pennell; Mesdames Hamper, Williams, Johnson, Moffett; Messrs. Duff, Henry and Warren Doughty, Joe, George and Richard Hossfeld, Rader, Johnson, Williams, Pennell, Wood, Rossman, Johnson and Patterson.
1925
“Local News”
Mrs. Veva Smith departed the latter part of the week for Evansville, Wis., to be with her daughter, Alvena, who is very ill. Miss Alvena has been with her aunt, Mrs. A.G. Franklin, during the winter and attending school.
Chas. Shaw was slightly injured on Sunday when he was kicked in the back by a horse he was in the operation of shoeing. No bad results were felt except some cuts and a general lameness the following day.
Little Chas. Ragen had the misfortune to break his collarbone on Sunday evening, falling a few steps off the porch. He is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Ragen.
1953
“Winston News”
Little Wayne Edward and Kathy Herrington had a joint birthday party Saturday afternoon at their home. The little guests were entertained with games. Mrs. Herrington served refreshments to make it a perfect party.
Carol Whitehead spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stahl.
Wesley Diehl is the proud new owner of a 1953 Chevrolet. How do you rate Wesley?
Chas. Masolo attended the Chamber of Commerce banquet in Townsend at the Mint Café Thursday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Wallace and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Pigman and family visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Talbot in Boulder.
Dusty Miles also has a May birthday. He celebrated with his school friends and several preschoolers at the schoolhouse on Monday afternoon. Dusty is seven years old. His mother served delicious cake, ice cream and Cool-Aid. Everyone enjoyed the occasion.
1970
“First Place Winner”
Twenty-two boys participated in the tractor driving contest held last Thursday afternoon, climaxing the Summer Employment Training Program sponsored by the Rural Development Committee.
The winner of the experienced driver division was Kevin Toney, with Jim Toombs coming in second. Doug Stocks won the novice driver division with Matt Meyer taking second place.
The Broadwater Soil Conservation District paid $5 to the first-place winners and $2.50 to the second-place winners.
Equipment for the contest was furnished by Strong and Bradley Implement, Townsend Implement, Zipps Truck and Tractor and Ward’s Conoco.
