“Toston Topics”
Jake Ross and wife, accompanied by their niece, Ruth Linton, went to Helena Saturday, returning the same night. Miss Linton stayed with her mother for a few days.
What might have proven a very serious accident occurred last Friday evening, when the Misses Lillie, Ruth and Myrtle Linton and Nellie Benham were returning from a ride. They had driven up in front of the store when one of the horses rubbed its bridle off. Miss Lillie was stepping out of the buggy to put it on again when the horse saw that he was loose and started to run, throwing Lillie down and running over her limb. The team ran over the hill and back of Mr. Nolan’s barn and started down over the point of the hill near the blacksmith shop, where they turned, throwing the girls out and upsetting the buggy. It was thought for a while that they were hurt very severely, but all are getting along nicely at present. Nellie, however, is compelled to carry her arm in a sling.
Cliff Rader returned from Jardine last week and will remain to help his father during the summer.
