What: MSU Extension and Broadwater County 4-H will host the first-ever Meat Science Education Day, a hands-on learning event for 4-H and FFA youth from across Montana. The program includes live processing demonstrations, sausage making, cooking workshops, meat judging, and taste testing of underrepresented species such as lamb, goat, and rabbit. This event offers strong visuals and interview opportunities with youth, educators, and agriculture professionals.
Who: 4-H and FFA youth from across Montana, MSU Extension educators, 4-H volunteer leaders and FFA advisors, Local producers and industry professionals
When: Saturday, April 25, from 1:00–4:30 PM
Where: Townsend Schools, 210 N Pine Street, Townsend, MT
Why it matters: Montana faces increasing demand for locally sourced meat, yet processors continue to struggle with capacity, workforce shortages, and long wait times. This program helps prepare the next generation of producers, processors, and informed consumers by teaching the full farm-to-fork continuum.
