Bulldog Track: Avery Stiles Memorial Meet

The Broadwater Bulldog track team traveled to Boulder for the Avery Stiles Memorial Meet on Friday, April 3rd, which was delayed by a day due to weather. This delay resulted in a lot of athletes having conflicts and, therefore unable to attend. However, due to the size of our team, there were still loads of Bulldogs to cheer on.

Junior Kyla Meissner doubled up with wins in the 1600 & 3200-meter runs, punching her ticket to state in the shorter distance with a qualifying time. Sophomore Elaine MacDonald snagged a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash with her best time of 28.19.

Junior Tavyn Anderson was victorious in the 300-meter hurdles, while also finishing third in the 110-meter hurdles and 4th/5th in the triple and long jumps. Fellow junior Jim Tew placed third in the long jump with a distance of 20’6” which qualifies him for state! He also managed to finish 2nd in the short hurdles, 6th in the triple jump, and anchor the 4x100-meter relay to a 4th place finish.

Seniors Trace Giomi and Gavin Green scored well for the Bulldogs. Trace was 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the discus, while Gavin was runner-up in the 1600-meter by 0.05 of a second and 4th in the 800-meter run. The men tallied 97 points to finish third, while the ladies finished fifth with twenty-eight points collectively.
