Four Townsend Bulldogs Place at the 2026 Montana State Wrestling Tournament B/C Class

Just to get a seat at the Montana All-Class State Wrestling tournament is a feat in itself. Not only did all five of your Dawgs make it to day three, another big accomplishment, four of them also brought home a State medal for the B/C Class.

Isaac Brakefield, Freshman - 110 pounds:

Isaac battled all the way back through the consolation bracket from an early loss, pinning Manhattan’s Callan Dos Santos in the third round of Brakefields bloodround, securing him a 6th place medal.

Parker Hunt, Senior - 144 pounds:

After a tough loss in the quarter finals, Parker worked his way back through the consolation bracket. Hunt pinned Fort Benton’s Wyatt Cline 43 seconds into the first round of consolation semi-finals, winning himself a 4th place medal.

Gavin Schmele, Senior - 285 pounds:

Gavin suffered an injury during his consolation semi-final bout with Eureka’s Joe Banks. Gavin fought through the injury, pinning Banks in round two. Due to his injury, Schmele was unable to wrestle his last match of the season for 3rd vs. Baker’s Logan Sherman, landing Gavin a 4th place medal.

Lane Bantz, Junior - 285 pounds:

Bantz, on the light side for the 285-pound bracket, fought two well-earned wins and two tough losses, ultimately falling one bout shy of the podium.

There were a total of 43 teams in attendance for the B/C Class. The 4 Townsend wrestlers battled hard and ranked their team in 11th place overall with a total score of 51.5.

Gabby Rico, Sophomore - 235G pounds:

Rico wrestled in a bracket with 18 other girls from AA, A and B/C Class schools.

Gabby took 8th place, making history as Broadwater High School's first-ever female to land on the girls' Montana All State podium.
