On Wednesday, February 18, Michele Mathot and Danielle Horton from Rocky’s Agency on Aging visited the Townsend Senior Center. Rocky’s Agency on Aging is a division of Rocky Mountain Development Corp (RMDC). In Townsend, RMDC operates the Townsend Sr. Center and the Townsend Headstart program.
Approximately 20 – 25 seniors had a terrific meatloaf lunch and listened to a small presentation from Michele. Michele talked about the programs and services that Rocky’s Agency on Aging has for Seniors. Danielle Horton is a Medicaid specialist and was available to answer any questions the seniors had regarding Medicaid.
Michele hosts a “Stepping On Falls Prevention Program” at the Helena Senior Center.
“Stepping On Falls Prevention Program” is a 7-week program that offers
• Balance & strength exercises
• Home safety tips
• Medication reviews
• Expert advice from physical therapists, pharmacists, and more. Gain more strength, better balance, and increased confidence and independence!
Michele would like to see the program offered at the Townsend Senior Center, but needs a volunteer(s) to run the program. A volunteer for the program would receive special training by RMDC in Helena. The Cost of the training and lodging in Helena will be covered by Rocky’s Agency on Aging.
