Homestead and Long -Term Rental Tax Relief Passes Halfway Point
MT43 News Staff Reporter
Thousands of Montana property owners have already successfully enrolled to receive property tax relief, according to a release from the Montana Department of Revenue.
As of January 15, the department has enrolled 7,936 homestead and 11,155 long-term rental properties to receive the reduced rates.
Qualified Montana homeowners and owners of long-term rental property have until March 1 to enroll their homes they have lived in for at least 7 months this year, or rentals that have been rented for at least 7 months.
The fastest way for taxpayers in Broadwater County to enroll their property is to go to the County Courthouse, where the Montana Department of Revenue maintains an office Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please go to homestead.mt.gov.
