Good day! This week I am going to discuss a Change of Plea (COP) hearing.
This hearing is held when the parties have come to an agreement on the charges against the defendant. Sometimes, in a change of plea, the parties have come to an agreement on a lesser charge, so that is considered an Amended Charge. Another might be that the defendant only pleaded to one or a few of the charges. This usually does not happen, but sometimes the defendant will plead to all the charges against them.
After the Change of Plea, the Sentencing Hearing is either held or scheduled for another day.
February 13, 2026, Judge Mike McMahon
BDC-25-30 Lukeus Gallegos appeared before the Court to enter a Change of Plea.
The defendant pleaded Guilty to Count 2- DUI 4th offense (felony) and Count 5- failure to give notice of accident by Quickest means/apparent damage over $1000. The remaining offenses were dismissed.
The Court reminded the defendant that all previous bail conditions remain in place.
Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026.
