Valentine’s Day will find Special Olympians taking part in the Sweetheart Polar Plunge at the new Town Pump in East Helena. The event, a fundraiser for Montana Special Olympics, will take place at noon on Saturday, February 14.
The event has grown from the first one held in Whitefish, Montana, in 1999 to 14 plunges now held across the state every year. The event raises more than $350,000 annually. Funds raised are used for training, competitions, health programs and leadership training for Montana Special Olympic athletes.
