Chamber Board Pleased with Christmas Stroll Turnout

MT43 News Staff Reporter

In their meeting Thursday night, Co-chairperson Anna Glueckert said the chamber was happy with the turnout and the proceeds for the Christmas Stroll this year.

Mainstreet businesses were very busy, plus the chamber, which hosts the Stroll, made about $1,100, which it will put toward staging next year’s Stroll. Chamber members had decorated Broadway, put together advertising and lined up gift baskets for raffles. They also organized the parade in which new Chamber member Kolar Tire had two lighted trucks. The Chamber currently has 40 members.

In other business, Glueckert explained the new rules for use of their electronic sign on Highway 287. As set out by the Montana Department of Transportation, the sign may be used for sponsorship purposes and support group recognition as well as community events. “To stay compliant with MDT signage rules, we must stick to ‘Welcome to Townsend-Proud Home of Local Businesses’ concept,” she explained, “but we must avoid direct business promotion.”

In a list of regulations sent by MDT, a QR code or short URL may be posted by businesses.
