Bulldog Wrestlers Kick Off Their Season in Cascade Bryleigh Erickson BHS Sports Reporter On December 5th and 6th, the Bulldogs wrestling team travelled to Cascade to compete in their first tournament of the season. Twenty teams participated so the Bulldogs got to see a variety of competitors. The team will later face teams they played in the tournament, including Jefferson, Darby, Red Lodge, Conrad, Three Forks, and Harlem.
This was a great start for the team as they placed 10th out of 20 teams. Four Bulldog wrestlers found their way to the podium. Isaac Brakefield finished 2nd in the 110lb weight class. Trenton Dales finished in 4th place in the 135lb weight class. Gavin Schemele finished in 2nd place in the Heavyweight division. Gaby Rico won the 190 lb- 235lb girls’ division. Most of the Bulldogs finished the tournament with a winning record. Lane Bantz went 4-2 and Aiden Mosher placed a 3-3 record in the Heavyweight division. Jace Wellenstein had 4 wins and 2 losses in the 126lb division, and in the 144lb weight division, Parker Hunt won 2 matches and lost 2. The Bulldogs’ season-opening tournament was an overall success. The Bulldogs travel to Whitehall on December 12th for two days to compete in a dual against the Trojans.
