“School Bus Driver”

W.A. “Bill” Coonis is the last in our series on identifying the school bus drivers in Broadwater County for the 1975-1976 school year. Bill and his family came here from St. Joe, Missouri, about a year and half ago, where he had been a school bus driver for over six years. Bill is the minister of the First Baptist Church in Townsend. He rises early each morning and makes the 66 mile round trip up Deep Creek and through the Country to bring 42 youngsters to school here in Townsend and then runs them all home again each evening. Bill drives for Merle Sears. Bill likes the driving and the kids. It keeps him in touch with the youth, so that he can do his other job, ministering, a little bit better too.
