Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Team Finishes Second at State

The Bulldogs played the Shepard Fillies in the State Volleyball Championship in Bozeman. The Shepard Fillies beat the Bulldogs twice to claim the state championship so the Bulldogs finished second. The Fillies, a top seed, had come up through the losers’ bracket to win. The sets were close. The Bulldogs put up a good fight.
For three days, November 12-14, the Lady Bulldogs Volleyball team travelled to Bozeman to do battle for the state championship. The Lady Bulldogs went into the tournament as the fourth seed from the Southern division. They were the lowest-seeded team in the tournament. In their first round, the Bulldogs faced the Florence Falcons, the number one seed from the Western Conference.
The Bulldogs’ first round was successful and they beat the Florence Falcons in three sets, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-23. Bryleigh Erickson had 26 assists, and Holly Newman had 14. Harper Wolfgram and Bryleigh Erickson led the team in blocks, with three each. Holly Newman had 19 digs, and Emmalin Fischer had 18. Kaitlyn Noyes tallied 18 kills, and Holly Newman followed with 12. Aspen Slyker had an ace. This was an amazing game for the Bulldogs to advance to the second round.
Next, the Bulldogs faced the Shepard Fillies, who were the one seed from the Southern division, forcing the Fillies into the losers’ bracket. The Bulldogs played an amazing game and ended up winning in four sets, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, and 25-23. Bryleigh Erickson had 16 assists, and Holly Newman had 12. Kaitlyn Noyes led the team in blocks with 8, followed by Harper Wolfgram, who had 7 and Bryleigh Erickson, who had 6. Emmalin Fischer tallied 23 digs, and Violet Collins had 12. Holly Newman had 11 kills, and Kaitlyn Noyes had 10.
On November 13th, the Bulldogs played the Jefferson Panthers to determine who would move into the State Championship. The Bulldogs advanced their winning streak, defeating the Panthers 26-24, 25-11, and 26-24. Bryleigh Erickson and Holly Newman each had 20 assists. Harper Wolfgram had 7 blocks to lead the team, and Sophia Lamb followed with 5. Emmalin Fischer had 18 digs. Holly Newman had 10 kills, and Kaitlyn Noyes had 9. Bryleigh Erickson had 3 aces. The Bulldogs advanced to the Championship.
The Bulldogs had an amazing season, finishing with an undefeated conference play record. The Bulldogs Volleyball team would like to thank the Townsend community for their undeniable support throughout the season.
