The Townsend Rotary Club continued its long-standing tradition this week by presenting brand-new “A Student’s Dictionary” books to local third graders. Rotarians Doug Sitton, Elaine Roy, Diane Brown, and Jeff Langlinais met the students on Monday morning as they transitioned between classes, greeting each child with a smile and a dictionary of their very own.

As part of the visit, the Rotarians engaged the students with fun, hands-on questions designed to get them exploring their new books right away. Students eagerly flipped through the pages to look up the word “volunteer”—a perfect lead-in to a conversation about how even young people can serve their schools, families, and community. Laughter and excitement filled the room as students discovered Roman numerals, compared the sizes of planets, searched for the longest word in the book, and even learned the origin of the word “Google.”

Along the way, the students gained a quick introduction to Rotary and its mission of service above self.

Rotary is a global network of neighbors, friends, and leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change. The Townsend Rotary Club welcomes anyone interested in making a difference to consider joining and helping continue the work of service in our community. Contact = Jeff Langlinais at 406-530-5251.
