Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and his wife Susan toured Goosebay Glass in Townsend early Tuesday as part of his 56-county roundabout. It is his ninth time visiting various small businesses and organizations in Montana’s counties.
The Gianforte Administration has worked hard to help small businesses, he said, by raising exemptions on business equipment from $100,000 to $1million and has encouraged the Legislature to reduce regulations affecting those businesses, so profits can be reinvested back into their companies.
“We visit small businesses because small businesses are the bedrock of Montana’s economy,” he said.
Gianforte further explained he and usually Mrs. Gianforte, visit 4-H groups, schools, county commissioner meetings or ag producers in each county.
Gianforte had never been to Goosebay Glass, although he and his wife pass through Townsend often. Goosebay Glass owners Jim and Terry Gundersen, who hosted the Governor’s entourage, welcomed the group with a glass-blowing demonstration. Mrs. Gianforte received one of the finished glass pumpkins as a gift.
