BHS Senior Class Steak Fry Well Attended

MT43 News Staff Reporter

Hundreds of parents, grandparents, children and football fans streamed into Townsend Elementary School lunchroom Friday, eagerly waiting for their steak, baked potato, salad and ice cream. Despite long lines, service was exceptionally fast, thanks to a well-organized group of volunteers.

According to Karen Noyes, chairperson for the steak fry event, the group served 640 steak dinners from 5:30 to 7:00 pm with the efficiency of an army kitchen. Senior classmen and women served up spuds, salads and rolls while others picked up used plates and passed out ice cream cups. Noyes said the parents’ committee did the planning and buying, while students were tasked with selling tickets. Officers of the senior parents’ committee in addition to Noyes, are Vice President Jacqui Richtmyer, Secretary Audrey Walleser and Treasurer Emma Spurlock. School advisors for the senior class are Allie Lampman, Jim Shindoll, Wyatt Frank and Andrea Tullos.

Funds raised for the event will go toward the senior class all-night party, the senior banquet and graduation next spring. The senior all-night party provides a fun and safe environment for the senior class, Noyes pointed out.

Noyes thanked the volunteers for their work and the community for attending the event. “All the parents pitched in. We could not have pulled off the dinner without them. The committee would also like to especially thank the community for coming out to support our fundraiser,” she said.
