Homecoming Football Game Against Manhattan Tigers

The Manhattan Tiger football team took the steam out of Bulldog homecoming with a win over the Bulldogs 21-15 Friday night at Fandrich Field.

The Bulldogs have a 2-1 conference record, while the Tigers have a 4-0 record and are ranked first in the southern B division.

The Bulldogs started off with the ball in the first quarter. They were stopped, tried for a long field goal and missed. The Tigers then took possession. They then scored a touchdown on this possession and tried for a two-point conversion, but didn’t make it. This made the score 0-6 at the start of the second quarter.

The Bulldogs started out with the ball, but were stopped, so they punted to the Tigers. The Tigers scored another touchdown and were successful with a two-point conversion, making the score 0-14. After that, the Tigers scored another touchdown and an extra point to extend their lead 0-21. After a kick to the Bulldogs, Colt Barnard carried the return to set the Bulldogs up for a touchdown. Tavyn Anderson threw the ball to Logan Johnson to score a touchdown, and Johnson also kicked the extra point. It is the Tigers' possession, and the Bulldogs' defense stopped them on fourth down to end the half with the Tigers up 7-21.

The Tigers began the third quarter with the ball but were stopped by the Bulldogs' defense. The Bulldogs could not score, so they punted to the Tigers. The Bulldogs' defense scored, getting a safety on the Tigers' quarterback. This made the score 9-21 going into the fourth quarter.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs tried for another long field goal and missed. The Tigers gained possession. Marek Easter had an interception on defense to give the Bulldogs the ball. Then, Manhattan intercepted the ball, switching the possession to them. Soon after, the Tigers fumbled. Marek Easter recovered the ball in the end zone for a Bulldog touchdown. The Bulldogs tried for a two-point conversion, but failed, making the final game score 15-21 for the Tigers.

At halftime, Honey Hive Entertainment Club cheerleaders performed their cheers and dances for the crowd. It was the Bulldogs' senior night, and 7 seniors were honored for the mark they left on Bulldog Football. The seniors were Colt Barnard, Tanner Bird, Marek Easter, Trace Giomi, Trenton Hoveland, Gavin Schmele, Tannen Tuffelmire, and manager Taylor Cartwright.

Next Friday, October 17th, the Bulldogs football team will travel to Whitehall to take on the Trojans.
