The Powder Puff and Buff games were on Tuesday. First, the Powder Buff happened, where boys from each class played boys from other classes. The Juniors first beat the Freshman, moving into the championship and the Seniors beat the Sophomores to get into the championship game. The Seniors ended up winning the championship, and the Juniors got second. Next, the Senior and Junior powder puff team played the sophomores and freshmen team. The Seniors and Juniors ended up winning.
The overall results of Homecoming had sophomores in fourth place, freshmen in third, juniors in second, and seniors winning it all.
Another part of homecoming is the royalty. Four pairs of seniors were chosen as the homecoming court, and the king and queen were announced at the football game Friday. The Homecoming court was Holly Newman and Trenton Hoveland, Kaitlyn Noyes and Trace Giomi, Logan Barkhurst and Colt Barnard, and Jenna Mainwaring and Jakob Rainey. The winners were Holly Newman and Jakob Rainey.
Football Home vs. Jefferson
On Friday, October 3rd, the Jefferson Panthers travelled to Townsend to play the Bulldogs Varsity Football team on their Homecoming. The Bulldogs and the Panthers both had a 1-1 conference record going into the game.
The first quarter started strong for the Bulldogs. Gavin Schmele and Trace Giomi both had a sack, helping the Bulldogs defensively. After a change in possession, putting the Bulldogs on defense again, Trenton Hoveland also had a sack. Then, Jim Tew had an interception, giving the Bulldogs the ball. The Bulldogs got close but couldn’t get the ball into the end zone, so Jogan Johnson kicked a field goal to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. The Bulldogs stopped the Panthers’ next possession, causing the Panthers to punt. Tannen Tufflemire ran the punt back to the 16-yard line, giving the Bulldogs a chance to score. Bradan Martin ran the ball in for a touchdown, and Jogan Johnson scored the extra point, putting the Bulldogs up 10-0 going into the second quarter.
The second quarter started with the Panthers’ possession, and soon ended when Bryce Lessley got an interception, giving the Bulldogs the ball. Once again, the Bulldogs got close but couldn’t quite make it into the end zone, so Logan Johnson kicked for a field goal and made it. With the score 13-0, the Panthers finally get on the board, scoring a touchdown. On the Bulldogs' next possession, Tannen Tufflemire scored a touchdown. After Logan Johnson's extra kick, the Bulldogs were up 20-7 at the end of the first half.
Later in the third quarter, the Bulldogs score again when Marek Easter runs the ball into the end zone. Logan Johnson kicked the extra point and it was good, putting the Bulldogs up 27-7. The Bulldogs change possession with the Panthers, and the score will be 27-7 going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter started with the Panthers' ball, but Tavyn Anderson's interception gave the Bulldogs the ball. Bryce Lessley scored a touchdown soon after and Logan Johnson's extra point put the Bulldogs up 34-7. The Bulldogs' good defense forces the Panthers to punt, changing possession. After that, Bradan Martin ran the ball in for a touchdown, and Bryce Lessley ran the ball in for a two-point conversion. The Panthers got stopped late in the fourth quarter with a sack from Nick Humphries, sealing the Bulldogs' win 42-7 against the Jefferson Panthers.
Next Friday, October 10, the Bulldogs will take on the Manhattan Tigers at home. It is senior night and the senior steak fry and auction.
