The High School has had a busy week celebrating Homecoming. The theme this year was board games, so each class was assigned a board game to decorate based on different games. The Seniors chose Jumanji, the Juniors chose Battleship, the Sophomores chose Candy Land, and the Freshmen chose Sorry. Each class decorated their hallway entrance, built a float, and made signs for Volleyball, Football, and Cross Country. BHS students stayed after school, came before school and even worked during school on their signs, hallways, and floats to try to beat the other classes. Points were awarded to each class for participation and judging of floats, halls, and signs.
The Hallways of BHS were one of the most time-consuming parts of Homecoming. The Seniors' hallway was full of vines, jungle animals, and parts of the Jumanji game. The Juniors' hallway consisted of storm clouds, Battleship pieces, and explosions. The Sophomores' hallway had lots of candy and Candy Land squares. And the Freshmen hallway had lots of dice, Sorry pieces and fun signs. After judging, done by the teachers, the Senior hallway was deemed the best.
As for the signs, the Seniors had the best Volleyball sign, saying, “Welcome to the jungle”. The Seniors also had the best Cross-Country sign. The Juniors' Football sign was the best. The students worked on Friday in preparation for the parade that day. The Juniors' float was deemed the best, consisting of a large battleship board in the middle.
Students also received points based on participation in dress-up days over the week. The theme on Monday was crazy hair day, where many students came to class in wigs. The Tuesday theme was Duo Day. Students dressed as a dynamic duo with their friends. On Wednesday, the theme was Bikers vs. Surfers. Students either came dressed in leather and black or Hawaiian shirts and leis. The theme on Thursday was Blue and White, and the pep rally was also on Thursday. And finally, the Friday theme was color wars. The seniors dressed in pink, the juniors in orange, the sophomores red, and the freshmen wore purple.
Another part of Homecoming week is Noon games. Each day, one class hosts games where people from each class compete against each other. On Monday, each class competed in life-sized Hungry Hippos and the seniors won. Tuesday, the game was Ships and Sailors, and Aspen Slyker won for the seniors. Wednesday was tug of war. 20 people from the Seniors and Freshman classes were on one team, and 20 people from the Junior and Sophomore classes were on the other, with the Juniors and Sophomores winning. The Thursday lunch game was jousting with pool noodles, and the Sophomores won.
