US Congressional Candidate Speaks in Townsend

MT43 News Staff Reporter

Sam Lux, candidate for Montana’s Congressional District 2, spoke at a Broadwater Democrats public meeting recently. Lux, 29, is currently from Great Falls and is articulate and enthusiastic about his decision to run for office. He reported he has already traveled 18,000 miles for the last three months talking to tribal councils, ranchers, farmers and small-town gatherings.

His platform included four key points: He favors health care reform; he is very much in favor of environmental conservation; he wants to see us move to an all-encompassing energy transition that includes not only wind and solar, but limited use of fossil fuels. Related to that point, he would like to propose a plan for Montana’s energy independence.

Lux suggested that if he had a fifth point, it would be about reforming our immigration system.

Originally from the coal fields area of Kentucky, he now works as a farrier in Central Montana.
