BHS Volleyball Players Steam Toward Conference Win

On September 12th, the Bulldogs volleyball team took on the Jefferson Panthers at home. The Bulldogs were coming off their first conference win against Three Forks and a successful tournament in Havre the week before, hoping to continue their conference win streak. Jefferson had a conference record of 2-0, previously beating the Manhattan Tigers and the Ennis Mustangs.

The C squad game was a tough match and the Bulldogs ended up losing the match. The scores of the sets were 7-25, 13-25, and 3-15 (JV and C squad play two sets to 25 and the other sets to 15).

The JV game ended with a Panther win in four sets: 12-25, 28-26, 13-15, and 6-15. In this match, Tevyn Newman and Clair Swanson both had an ace. Sophia Lamb had 4 blocks, while Savannah Paulsen, Claire Swanson and Ava Tiffany all had one block. Sophia Lamb led the team with 9 kills, and Tevyn Newman had 4. Kinsley Heggen had 13 digs, while Tevyn Newman had 8, and Savannah Paulsen had 8 digs.

The Varsity game was very exciting to watch. The Bulldogs came out with a win in three sets, 25-22, 25-22, and 25-16. Kaitlyn Noyes led the team in kills with 12, followed by Aspen Slyker, who had 9 kills. Following were Bryleigh Erickson and Harper Wolfgram, each with 7 kills, and Holly Newman with 6 kills. Harper Wolfgram had 4 blocks, while Bryleigh Erickson had 3 blocks and Aspen Slyker had 2 blocks. Bryleigh Erickson had 3 aces and Holly Newman, Aspen Slyker, and Jazel Ragen each had one ace. Holly Newman led the team in digs with 14, and Emmalin Fischer had 13. Bryleigh Erickson had 22 assists, and Holly Newman had 14 assists.

On Saturday, September 13th, the Bulldogs C squad team travelled to Lone Peak to play their team. It ended up being a great match with the Bulldogs winning in 5 sets. They won the first set 25-22, the second set was 25-21, they lost the third 12-15 and the fourth 9-15. In a close fifth set, the Bulldogs pulled through with a 15-13 win.

The next game for the Bulldogs is Tuesday, September 13th in Whitehall. The Bulldogs will travel to Ennis on Thursday, September 18th. Then, the varsity team will travel to Huntley Project to play in a tournament on Saturday, September 20th.

The next football game will be Friday, September 19th, against Big Timber. It is in Townsend, and it will start at 7 o’clock. This is the Bulldog football team’s first conference game.
