We were able to move back into our 315 Broadway location just before August 1st. Our completely renovated store is very nice. Our new space made the distribution days in August go so much more smoothly. On August 29th, we served 93 individuals – one of our biggest days this year.
The election of Officers was held recently. We a grateful for the dedication and hard work of our board and many volunteers. Our new board is: President - Anthony “Tony” Van Houdt, Vice President - Daryl Blumhagen, Operations Manager – Paula Van Houdt, Director at Large – Trina Bergman, Treasurer – Steve Visocan, Secretary – Brenda Phillips. We’d like to thank our retiring Secretary, Anne Inghram, for her years of service to our Food Pantry
The Food Pantry has had several donations of beef from local ranchers this summer. Valley Bank of Helena and Opportunity Bank each donated a pig purchased from the 4-H sale. Thanks to the 4-H kids who work hard to raise the market animals and make these donations to food pantries around the state possible
Town Pump will be matching donations made to the Broadwater Food Pantry between September 1st and November 30 of this year.
With hunting Season around the corner, we’d like to remind our community that we accept donations of processed wild game meat. Meat can be taken to Tizer Meat in Helena and they will process it, at no charge to the hunter, and then give it to Broadwater Food Pantry. Now that we are back in our 315 location, we have a cooler space to accept fresh produce donations.
Sign up for Thanksgiving Food baskets will take place on Sept. 20, Oct.4 or Oct 18 from 9:00 to 11:30 am at 315 Broadway.
Halloween is just around the corner. The youth of Townsend will be gathering food items on Wed, October 29th. This activity for our local youth groups, of collecting food donations, has become a fun competition that benefits our Food Pantry. Watch for more information.
We want to share our newly renovated Food Pantry with the Community that so graciously supports us. We will have an Open House during the Christmas Stroll on December 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Plan to stop by and meet our board, see our new space and have a cookie in our new space.
We are grateful to the local churches that serve our community by staffing the food pantry. Holy Cross will staff the Pantry in September. Faith Baptist church will staff the Food Pantry in October.
