American Legion 1st Responder Dinner Recipients
MT43 News Staff Reporter
Editor's note: This information was received after we printed the article last week about the American Legion's 1st Responder Recognition Dinner. This year, there were four local 1st Responders who were nominated by their supervisors to be recognized for their contributions and efforts.
Doug Longfellow, a Townsend volunteer firefighter. His life defines his service for 24 years: a National Guard member, firefighter, husband, and father. That says it all – 100% dedication there!
Search and Rescue member and President Eric Crusch. The Crusch! This gentleman navigates the mountains, searching through the dark of night on his volunteer services, leads SAR missions on the lake, and supervises and teaches all the new recruits.
Broadwater Rural Fire Department is Firefighter Zachary Webb. In one year of time, he has gone on 19 emergency calls, several possible jaws-of-life situations, which are usually very severe car accidents, and fighting fires all over the County, efficiently operating a multitude of apparatuses and equipment. Willing to give the shirt off his back to save a life!
Broadwater County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Richard McBride. He completed 200 hours of unpaid base training to become a reserve deputy in Broadwater County, at the same time worked as a full-time detention officer in Lewis and Clark County. He has only been a deputy in our county for a year, but is passionate and intense about battling the drug influx, leading several investigations and making significant arrests in the drug war. That is a very big thing, a big deal.
Thank you to all 1st Responders for making our County safer!
