Trailhead Christian Fellowship Church Welcomes New Associate Pastor

Matt Nelson

Taylor Horton officially became the new Associate Pastor at Trailhead on Sunday, August 17th. He and his wife, Menley, just moved to Townsend from St. Charles, Missouri, where he attended the Grace Baptist Church. He grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and she grew up in Kearney, MO. They are the proud parents of three young children.

Taylor is a humble and pastoral man who graduated with his Master of Divinity (online) degree in June from the Faith Bible Seminary in Lafayette, Indiana. Recently, Taylor became a certified Biblical Counselor. He has been in a very healthy pastoral internship for the past three years, which has equipped him well for pastoral ministry. He also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from the Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, LA which he earned in April 2022.

Taylor said, “The Lord put the desire in my heart to be a minister when I was in my 20s. My objective is to be a Servant of the Lord by utilizing my seminary education and ministry experience to glorify God as a pastor.”

While completing his Master’s Divinity degree, he coordinated rehearsals and directed worship with a 10-person orchestra and praise band. [Taylor plays the guitar, saxophone, and was a drum major in a marching band while in high school.] He will be one of the members of the Trailhead Praise Band to lead the Church in the singing of hymns.

Some of Taylor’s other accomplishments during his time of working on his Masters of Divinity degree are that he developed a series on the book of James and a series on the Fear of Man for an adult Sunday School class; oversaw a church-wide event that involved communication with third parties and secured 60 volunteers across 15 areas of service; preached often for Sunday evening services and three times on Sunday mornings at the Grace Baptist Church. As mentioned earlier, he is a humble man, and while at this Church, he performed general maintenance, janitorial work, and lawn care around the Church.

Taylor has also gone on two week-long mission trips, once to Kenya and the other to Buckley, Wales, in the United Kingdom.

He said, “I love the Lord, His Word, my wife and family, and if the Lord allows, to serve this Church (Trailhead) the best I can.” Jeremiah 3:15 says, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” And in Jeremiah 17:16, another verse fits Taylor: “As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee.”
