Republic Services Obtains Tri-County Disposal License, Eyes North County

Montana’s Public Service Commission on July 31 approved the transfer of Tri-County Disposal’s certificate to haul garbage in the area around Helena to Republic Services. As The Monitor reported on July 30, the companies had negotiated the acquisition by Republic of Tri-County’s disposal operations, including its hauling business in Jefferson County and its landfill in East Helena.
The PSC’s Intrastate Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity allows Republic to operate within a 35-mile radius of Helena’s city limits, which would include all of northern Jefferson County in addition to Boulder and Basin.
