Broadwater Community Health Foundation will hold its annual fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Bunkhouse Bar and Restaurant at Toston. The annual benefit dinner will begin at 5:00 p.m. with dinners served until 7:30 p.m. A band will provide the entertainment and the group will award great prizes to those who buy raffle tickets.
The nonprofit organization, founded in 1989, was formed to assist Townsend’s hospital and clinic with monies to support health care in the community. The organization pays for needed equipment at the hospital, as well as helps with upgrading rooms in the long-term care unit. Recently, the group assisted the Broadwater Community Health Department in purchasing shingles immunizations for people who are not covered by Medicaid or insurance.
Two organizations have worked directly with the hospital to raise funds for extra equipment and everyday needs of long-term care residents. Members of Broadwater Hospital Auxiliary worked many years to raise money for redecorating hospital and residents’ rooms as well as buying specialized wheelchairs for residents. Many Auxiliary members volunteered by visiting the residents. The group organized the annual Leprechaun Festival. They also hosted Townsend’s annual Rodeo Barbeque for three years until COVID in 2020.
The second nonprofit, Circle 100, formed in 2012 after the Auxiliary was phased out. Their funds, raised once a year at a tea, have helped raise money for a wheelchair lift for the hospital’s new shuttle bus and have helped install gazebo deck coverings in the courtyard of the hospital dining room.
Tickets may be purchased at C Hangin” C in Townsend Mercantile at 310 So. Front St. Call Casie at (406) 439-1269 for more information.
