Townsend Middle School promoted 59 students to high school on Tuesday, June 3rd, in the high school auditorium. The class will enter Broadwater High School as one of the largest to graduate in recent years. Middle School Principal Brad Racht praised the class for its participation in sports, academics and many activities.

Two-thirds of the class were on the Honor Roll (3.5 or above) for each of the four quarters of the school year. Mr. Racht singled out Clayton Rice as having a 4.0 for all four quarters, plus he received the Citizenship Award. Louie Parr also received a Citizenship Award.

Broadwater High School graduate Karsyn Sangray welcomed the class to high school next year. She congratulated each student for his or her hard work getting through Middle School but reminded them this would be the next chapter in their school life. “You’ll each walk your own path, face your own challenges and create your own memories. Don’t waste precious time comparing your own experience to someone else’s. It’s your story, so own it,” she admonished the class.

Townsend School District Board Chairman Jason Noyes and Trustee Adam Brakefield ended the ceremony by presenting each student with a diploma.
