City Swimming Pool Opens for the Summer

Did you know the pool offers Water Aerobics?

When the Townsend pool opens on June 16, you can join the class. Classes start on June 16th and are Monday through Thursday, 5:30 pm -6:30 pm, according to Tommie Jo Steel “TJ”, pool manager. Water aerobics is a very low-impact, enjoyable way to exercise for all ages. Even if you don’t own a swimsuit, you can participate in comfortable gym shorts/clothes. This is a good way to exercise without it being a sweaty workout and it is very refreshing on the hot days. Come when you can and work at your own pace.

There are several options to use the pool this summer. The pool will have open swim Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Saturday hours are 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The pool is closed on Sunday. The only other planned day the pool will be closed is the 4th of July. With the spring storms in our area, the pool will occasionally close due to storms in the area. The pool will close for the season on August 16, right before school starts.

Swim Lessons are available for ALL ages. All Montana lakes and rivers are a great source of recreation in this area, so it is a good idea for everyone to know swimming basics. Lesson times are scheduled between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, depending on the swim level class needed. Go to Townsendmontana.net to check out the swim level needed for each child or adult and sign up for lessons. If you have questions, call TJ at 406-266-1884.

Pool fees are very reasonable. Open Swim & Water Aerobics classes are $4 per session. Pool punch cards are available for $40 for 10 sessions. Family Season passes are available for $80 but do not include water aerobics or swim lessons. Swim passes may be purchased at the pool or from the City Office.

The pool is a fun idea for Birthday parties or family gatherings. Contact TJ, and she can help schedule your activity. Plan to come out this summer and enjoy our local pool.
