Guess what. Spring semester is over, obviously.
But now the summer semester has begun. I always swore that I would never take summer classes, and now I actually know why. I have only been back in Wisconsin for about a week now, but I am so busy that I can barely keep track of the days! As busy as classes are, I could not be happier that once evening or the weekend comes around, I get to socialize and have so much summer fun.
For example, all week long I worked on school work from 8:30-5, with only a thirty minute break for lunch. It sounds just like a 7.5 hour shift - nothing too crazy - however, sitting at a computer all day long, just to barely break the ice on weekly assignments for two classes? Now that is crazy. I am taking two classes, Principles of Microeconomics and Business Ethics. To sum up Microeconomics, it is basically just a complicated math class, focusing on tracking inputs and outputs into the economy, and adding a little bit of spice, hidden logic. In Business Ethics, everything is based on critical thinking skills, developing your thought processes to identify and prove whether a situation is ethical or not within the workplace.
After a long week of homework, I was finally able to close my computer and have some fun. This week’s exciting summer event? Josh Turner. Arguably one of my favorite country artists was in the Green Bay, WI area, performing for free, and I was so excited to see him. I went with my boyfriend, Nathan, and one of my friends, Cheyenne. After walking around (and maybe judging a few fake country outfits…), we grabbed ourselves a mocktail and some dinner, and headed as close as we could to the front of the stage.
Everyone was extremely excited, hollering and clapping loudly at his entrance. As the songs started playing and the evening turned to night, you would have thought that the audience would fall deeper and deeper into having the most fun. That just wasn’t true, yes the audience was having fun, but Josh Turner and his stage presence was all there. There was no doubt that he, with his amazing character, would just be incredibly excited to be doing his favorite thing, singing and playing guitar. He played Unsung Hero, Long Black Train, I Saw the Light, Firecracker, Why Don’t We Just Dance, and more.
I can’t believe we were able to go, and for free! At the end of a long week of school, it was the perfect treat to recharge me for the next week. The time that I could spend away from the computer and with the ones I love was definitely one of which I will always be grateful for. School sucked, but to push through it is worth it, and there will be little treats - like a Josh Turner concert - along the way.
