The Broadwater Future Farmers of America (FFA) held a plant sale on May 10th, with members of the chapter working 2-hour shifts and there were four shifts.

The regular meeting of the Broadwater FFA Chapter was called to order in the Ag room on May 20th. There were 13 members and 5 guests present. There were hot dogs, fried chicken, salad and desserts for lunch. The meeting started at 12:25 and ended around 12:40.

Several members from the Broadwater FFA Chapter took the day off from school on May 21st to drive to Three Forks to help with their school’s Ag Day. Members included Amanda Pesicka, Spencer Braaten and Aiden Kitto.

Ag day in Townsend was held on May 29th, and the Three Forks FFA Chapter returned the favor by coming and helping when needed. Several stations were held in the barn and a few were held just outside of the barn.

Many members of the Broadwater FFA had stations teaching about different things. Spencer Braaten brought in a few baby pigs to teach the kids about pig by-products and letting the kids touch the pigs; Madison Zaharko brought in some rodeo safety gear, teaching kids what each piece of equipment was for and a short history lesson on rodeo; Aiden Kitto brought in his family’s stinger; teaching kids how the piece of machinery works and what it is used for.

The day lasted from 7 a.m., setting up tables and chairs, to around 3 p.m., taking down tables and chairs and cleaning up stations. FFA members saw students from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. There is a ton of work that goes into this event and we are so grateful to be included.

Another plant sale was held on May 31st, with members working 2-hour shifts in four shifts again.

If you haven't had your fill of student-grown plants, catch them this summer at the Farmer's Market in Townsend on Thursday evenings!
